A beautiful 20th century (circa 1950) version of the famous Louis XVI style commodes designed by Guillaume Benneman and Joseph Stöckel, created for Marie-Antoinette in 1786 for the gaming salon at Fontainebleau Palace. A large and impressive piece constructed of mahogany, with gilt bronze / ormolu detailing including decorative medallions with designs after French Rococo sculptor Clodion, and marble slab top. The interior is separated into four equal open storage areas.
