Spanish Shoemaker's Table
Walnut, tabletop has some period repairs
Cm 70 high x 76 wide x 52 deep
A small-sized (70cm H) 18th century Spanish shoemaker's table with a single drawer and spool turned legs. The tabletop is a single plank, legs attached with mortise and tenon joints - with the front two going all the way through the board (see pictures). This style of joining added extra strength to this sturdy little work table that needed to withstand the pounding of the shoemaker's hammer. The table is constructed almost completely using wood to wood joinery, with only a few (probably posterior) wrought iron nails visible. The drawer lock is still functional, and the key is included!
